Beginnings and Reflections

Jun 28, 2018

As June comes to an end and July begins, there are many things upon which to reflect.  June 30th marks the official end to our year and July 1st marks the beginning of our new year.

Our year ending has provided many opportunities to recognize and honor our amazing staff and students.  We continue to pursue our strategic goals and the purposeful approaches to teaching the whole child.  I am especially excited at the expansion of art and music, now beginning at kindergarten.  We have hired an additional four art teachers and four music teachers to further strengthen this program in the elementary schools.  The further expansion of STEM within the school day and in after school settings has provided opportunities for all students to extend their learning.

Is there room for us to improve our practices?  Absolutely!  We are committed to working toward the improvement of all that we do in order to better meet the individual needs of all of our students.  Will this improvement be accomplished in one year?  No, it will not.  I ask that you give us the time needed to ensure the improvement strategies are firmly in place and are being implemented across the district.  This will allow us to show improvement and growth toward our strategic goals.

The new year begins on July 1st.  We are preparing every school building for the return of students and staff in August.  You may wonder what you can do to also prepare for the new school year.  You can continue to read with your child.  You can complete the online registration process for your child.  You can access the school supply list for your child's grade level.  We see you as full partners in this educational journey with your child.

I wish you all an amazing rest of the summer and a special Fourth of July celebration!  Be safe and we will see you all soon back at school!
