BULLYING, INTIMIDATION, AND HARASSMENT

Bullying, intimidation, and harassment diminish a student’s ability to learn and a school’s ability to educate. Preventing students from engaging in these disruptive behaviors and providing all students equal access to a safe, non-hostile learning environment are important District goals.

After evaluating the effectiveness of our current policy there is no need to make revisions to Policy 7:180, Prevention of and Response to Bullying, Intimidation, and Harassment.  The evaluation included the following components.

  1. Monthly review of discipline data demonstrates a low frequency of bullying.
  2. Student and staff observations confirm a safe environment at schools.
  3. There are no identifiable physical locations at schools that are prone to incidents of bullying.
  4. Reported incidents of bullying include both in-person actions and use of social media.
  5. No evidence of added participation in bullying by bystanders. Bystander students are encouraged to immediately report bullying through multiple reporting methods, presentations, and school-wide printed materials. Bystander staff are directed to intervene to prevent bullying.
