Joliet Public Schools District 86 safely transports nearly 5,000 students on almost 90 vehicles each day. General Education transportation services are provided by First Student, Inc., and both Pre-Kindergarten and Special Education transportation services are provided by Grand Prairie Transit, Inc.

Students residing more than 1.5 miles from the school of attendance qualify for transportation at no charge. Additionally, students residing along a hazardous route as declared by the Illinois Department of Transportation qualify for transportation services at no charge. The District also operates "pay-to-ride" service as space allows for students who would otherwise not qualify for transportation services. Bus assignments, routes, and stops are determined by the Joliet Public Schools District 86 Transportation Department.
