Taft Students Give Back

Socks

Congratulations to Taft Elementary School Teacher Anne Flaherty’s fourth grade classroom for coordinating a school-wide sock collection drive for MorningStar Mission. Nearly 400 pairs of new socks were collected. The fourth graders were reading the book Wonder by R.J. Palacio in their English Language Arts literacy unit that prompted them to organize this community service project. The students packed up three pairs of socks in individual bags decorated by the students that were delivered to the local shelter.

“I am very impressed with our students’ display of gratitude this holiday season to our friends at MorningMission,” said Taft Elementary School Principal Doriane Henderson.

“My students are awesome,” added Taft teacher Anne Flaherty, “I’m so proud of their efforts to spread kindness in our community, and the mission guests were so appreciative.”
