Students attending Joliet Public Schools District 86 summer school recently welcomed some special guests to their schools. Mike Levins from Crosstown Exotics shared some of their reptiles, amphibians, and bugs with the students during a hands-on science assembly. The students especially enjoyed meeting "Dr. Pepper" the chameleon, "Chubs" the American alligator, and "Nebula" the green anaconda.

More than 800 students, pre-kindergarten through seventh grade, are currently attending the elementary school district’s five-week summer school program. Students in primary grades are focusing on reading and mathematics while intermediate students are participating in STEAM Up Camps that focus on science, technology, engineering, art, and math activities.
