Ginger Zee discussed her new young adult book, “Chasing Helicity,” her love of math and science, and her fascination with weather with 147 Eisenhower Academy third, fourth, and fifth grade students in Joliet on April 30, 2018. She told the students she became fascinated with weather when she saw a water spout when she was a young child growing up in Western Michigan and the rest is history!
Ginger Zee shared with the students, photos of her career as a meteorologist, including covering Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Sandy, paragliding in the Himalaya Mountains, and skydiving over a glacier in Iceland and how these events were all related to science. The students were also thrilled to know she has starred on Dancing with the Stars and Celebrity Jeopardy, and met U.S. President Donald Trump, former President Barack Obama, and the student’s favorite, recording artist Taylor Swift. The visit was made possible through Anderson’s Bookshop in Naperville.
