Welcome Back to School
Welcome to the new school year! The year is off to a good start. Thank you to everyone who attended our Open Houses and Back to School events.
September is Attendance Awareness Month. I want to emphasize the importance of student attendance. Students who attend school regularly score up to 20% higher on tests and graduate on time. Attending school promotes student learning, improves mental health, and creates lasting friendships with classmates. Students cannot learn if they are not in school. Please keep children home if they are sick but otherwise make every effort to have them in school every day.
A Physical Examination and required immunization records are required for all Pre-K, Kindergarten, 6th grade, and new transfer students from out of state. Forms must be turned into the school office by October 15, 2025. Students will be excluded from school beginning October 16th if we do not receive the required information.
Appointment dates past the October 15th deadline are no longer accepted by the State of Illinois. If you have any questions, please contact your school nurse. New students from out of state or out of the country have 30 days from the first day of school to submit a health exam. For immunization resources, please visit https://aptg.co/PT3Yxv.
This month, students will take STAR Assessments. STAR Assessments are short, research-based online tests that are aligned to the Illinois State Standards. Students in grades K-1 will take early literacy, and students in grades 2-8 will complete reading and math tests. The results will provide our administrators and teachers with key data to assist students throughout the school year.
