The summer has certainly brought its share of storms and high temperatures. I hope everyone is staying safe and finding ways to keep cool. Despite the challenging weather, construction continues to make great progress at Gompers, Hufford, and Jefferson schools. Everything remains on schedule, and summer construction projects are being completed throughout the District.
The ribbon-cutting ceremonies for Gompers and Hufford will be here before we know it. The celebratory events will take place on Tuesday, August 11th at Gompers, and Thursday, August 13th at Hufford. Both events will begin at 4:00 p.m. I cannot wait!
Thank you to the families who have completed student registration. Over 68% of students are registered. The remaining students need to be registered by the end of July for schools to finalize class rosters and complete bus routes. Tuesdays and Thursdays: 12:30-6:30 p.m.
I hope you have a chance to bring your children to our school libraries this month. The libraries at Sanchez, Thigpen, and Washington schools are open for District 86 students to record reading progress, check out library books, and win prizes on Mondays through Thursdays from 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. through July 16th.
