As I begin my final year as Superintendent, I want to sincerely thank you for welcoming me to the Joliet community. Joliet will always hold a special place in my heart. District 86 is an extraordinary place because of the amazing students and dedicated people who make up our school community.
I am thrilled to announce the openings of the new Gompers and Hufford Junior High Schools. Ribbon cutting ceremonies will take place on Tuesday, August 11th at Gompers, 1501 Copperfield Avenue and on Thursday, August 13th at Hufford, 1125 N. Larkin Avenue. Both ceremonies will take place at 4:00 p.m. Thank you, taxpayers, for making these new schools a reality and for your continued investment in our students, staff, and the future of our community.
Students return to school on Wednesday, August 19th. If you haven’t registered your children for the upcoming school year, please do so immediately at https://www.joliet86.org/page/student-registration. Transportation information will be posted on the front page of your Aspen Family Portal by August 10th for fully registered students who qualify for buses. Please call your child’s school or the District office at (815) 740-3196 if you need help with registration.

Most School Open Houses take place on Monday, August 17th or Tuesday, August 18th before school begins. Please make sure you check the date and time of your child’s Open House.
