Three Culbertson students wearing new winter jackets

Nicor Gas in collaboration with Operation Warm, provided each student at T.E. Culbertson Elementary School with a brand-new winter coat. Over 250 jackets were given out to the students on November 7, 2025 in the school’s gymnasium.

Nicor Gas and Operation Warm selected two schools in the Chicagoland area for this wonderful donation. In addition to Culbertson School, coats were also distributed to students at an elementary school in Cicero.

"We cannot thank Nicor Gas and Operation Warm enough for this incredible gift," said Joliet Public Schools District 86 Superintendent Dr. Theresa Rouse. "The coats will help keep our students warm this winter."

"This was an amazing experience for my students,” T.E. Culbertson Elementary School Principal Kesha Brown added. “Thanks to Nicor Gas and Operation Warm for making this happen."

Operation Warm’s mission has always been focused on the whole child. Their tagline, ‘more than a coat’ means that coats and shoes provide children with not just physical warmth, but also emotional warmth, the confidence to socialize and succeed, and hope for a brighter future. Over the last 26 years, these gifts have become a bridge between families in need and our partners offering access to critical resources.
