More than 180 students at Sator Sanchez and Lynne Thigpen Elementary Schools enjoyed visiting the “Pop-Up” Pumpkin Patches at their schools. The pumpkin patches were created for students in the Adaptive, Behavior, Communication (ABC) classrooms at Sanchez and the Living in a Functional Environment (LIFE) classrooms at Thigpen.
Family members were invited to join their children for classroom visits to the pop-up pumpkin patches. In addition to selecting a pumpkin to decorate, students enjoyed playing in the corn pit, participating in games, getting their faces painted, and taking photos.
"This is such a wonderful opportunity for our students to enjoy a pumpkin patch right at their school," said Joliet Public Schools District 86 Superintendent Dr. Theresa Rouse, "I applaud the Student Services coordinators and Special Education teachers for creating these memorable events, as well as the businesses and individuals whose generous support helped make them possible."
Konow's Corn Maze in Homer Glen donated the pumpkins; Tractor Supply Company in Channahon provided the corn; and Anything-Art, LLC in Joliet provided face painting at Sanchez school. Several teachers, staff members, and families, also contributed decorations and supplies to help make the events extra special for students.
