Congratulations to three Washington Junior High School students who won top awards. Washington Academy eighth-grade student Julia Yanchick and Washington student athletes and brothers seventh-grader DeShaun Wilder and eighth-grade student Deandre Wilder received recognition.
Julia Yanchick was the runner-up in the 2026 Will County Regional Spelling Bee that took place on March 17 at Lincoln-Way West High School in New Lenox. DeShaun and Deandre Wilder both took home top awards at the Illinois Elementary School Association (IESA) 45th annual State Wrestling Tournament in DeKalb, Illinois on March 23-24. DeShaun came in fourth place in the 112-pound competition and Deandre placed fifth in the 126-pound weight class.
