Congratulations to Dirksen Junior High School eighth-grade students Nathan DiBona and Jernee Fleming-Plane who received the annual Charles A. Kransberger Memorial Scholarship Awards. The students each received $200 to further pursue their educational goals. Both students excelled academically while students at Dirksen Junior High School. Nathan will attend Joliet Central High School and Jernee will attend Joliet West High School in the fall.
The Charles A. Kransberger Memorial Scholarship Award was established in memory of Charles Kransberger who spent his entire 30-year professional career serving children in Joliet Public Schools District 86. The annual awards recognize two Dirksen Junior High students who have excelled academically and were active at the school. Since 2005, the Joliet Grade Schools Foundation for Educational Excellence has awarded over $9,500 in Kransberger scholarships to Dirksen Junior High School students.
