Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR)
Testing Windows for 2024-2025
The Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) is a computer-based standardized assessment for all students in grades 3-8. The IAR is designed to measure students' progress in English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics. Students in Joliet Public Schools District 86 will participate in the IAR from March 10 - April 4, 2025.
General Resources
The federal Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) requires states to assess their learning standards for English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, and Science. Each state may also have a general assessment for the majority of its students, and an alternate assessment for the 1 percent of students with the most significant cognitive disabilities. ESSA also requires that English learners be assessed in four domains (reading, writing, speaking, and listening) each year until they reach proficiency.
