Our department focus is to remove barriers that impact student growth and achievement by providing support services to students, faculty, staff, and parents.
Special Education Department
Joliet Public Schools District 86 provides a continuum of services and placements to meet the needs of students beginning at age three through 8th grade who are found to be eligible for special education under the federal guidelines.
Once made eligible for services, an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) is developed. This plan identifies the needs of a student and how those needs will be addressed within the school setting. It is important to note that services, related services, accommodations and modifications are determined on a case-by-case basis.
