May 30, 2023, 10:35 a.m. -- Joliet Police Department have cancelled their Shelter In Place Mandate. All District 86 Schools have resumed normal activities.
As a safety precaution, Dirksen, Farragut, Pershing, and Thigpen schools were placed in a “hold in place and teach” protocol this morning for a few hours where no one was allowed in the buildings due to ongoing police activity in the neighborhood. Students and staff are safe and will remain inside the building until police resolve the situation.
