Junior High Students Excel at State Science Expo

The Joliet Public Schools District 86 Board of School Inspectors, Superintendent Dr. Theresa Rouse, Washington Junior High Principal Rolland Jasper, and Hufford Junior High Assistant Principal Karen Glowicki recognized four junior high students who earned medals at the Illinois Junior Academy of Science State Exposition held recently in Peoria.

Damian Garcia, a seventh-grade student at Hufford Junior High, earned a Gold Award in the Poster Session. Daniel Bautista, an eighth-grade student from Washington Junior High School, competed twice at the event and earned a Silver Award in the Poster Section and a Bronze Award in the Paper Session, and Hufford Junior High students Kimberly Alvarez, eighth grade, and Rebecca Hernandez, seventh grade, both earned Silver Awards in the Poster Session. Congratulations to these students.

The students were accompanied to the competition by District 86 Science and Social Studies Coordinator Christina Nowak, Hufford Junior High teacher Angela Albrecht, and Washington Junior High teachers Samantha Johnson and Tammy Ledesma.
