Emergency School Closing Information

Generally, schools will remain open except during extreme weather conditions.  The decision is based on a number of factors including road conditions, weather reports, bus availability, and, most importantly, the ultimate safety of our students and employees.

A decision to close schools will typically be made by 5:00 a.m.  When schools are closed, all extra-curricular school activities are also cancelled.  An automated telephone message will be sent out to families and staff members using our emergency notification system.  In addition, the information will be posted on our website, social media accounts (Facebook, and Twitter), and on our Joliet Public Schools District 86 ParentLink Mobile App.  The information is also sent to Joliet and Chicago media outlets including radio, television, and newspapers.

Please make sure your child’s school has all current phone numbers on file so we can notify you of any emergencies.  Thank you for helping us keep all of our students and staff safe.
