District 86 Administrator Receives Music Award

Congratulations to Joliet Public Schools District 86 Administrator John Armstrong who received the Cloyd Myers Memorial Award from the Illinois Grade School Music Association (IGSMA). The award was presented during their 80th State Annual Fall Meeting held at Joliet Junior College. 

The award is presented annually to a person who has demonstrated educational excellence in IGSMA activities. The award is named after Cloyd Myers who dedicated over 50 years to IGSMA. In 1988, Mr. Myers was named President Emeritus of the Illinois Grade School Music Association and given a lifetime membership to the Executive Board. Mr. Myers passed away in 1991.  

Mr. Armstrong is celebrating his 25th year in Joliet Public Schools District 86.  He began as a Band Director at Dirksen Junior High School, served as a Music and Fine Arts Coordinator for 11 years, and currently serves as the Director of Technology and Information Services for District 86.
