In honor of Black History Month, students at Culbertson School hosted an African American Wax Museum for families and classmates, complete with an Underground Railroad. Each fourth-grade student selected an influential African American man or woman to portray. In preparation of the event, the students researched, created a display, and wrote a narrative about their notable person. The students even dressed up like the person for the presentations.

The famous African Americans, past and present, came to life when students and visitors pressed a button at the student displays. Selections included Simone Biles, Duke Ellington, Vice President Kamala Harris, Malcolm X, Harriet Tubman, and George Washington Carver. The event was organized by Culbertson teachers Elizabeth Karstensen and Traci Phillips.
