Congratulations to the 24 employees who retired from Joliet Public Schools District 86 this year. Collectively, these individuals worked in District 86 for a total of 462 years. The retirees included: LuAnn Atwood, Farragut Elementary; Mary Baskerville, Marycrest Early Childhood Center; Teresa Barr, Lynne Thigpen Elementary; Brenda Butler-Severado, Gompers Junior High; Ronald Catchings, A.O. Marshall Elementary; Joanne Culp, J.F. Kennedy Administrative Center; Patricia Ellis, J.F. Kennedy Administrative Center; James Freidag, Gompers Junior High; Monica Jasper, Carl Sandburg Elementary; Gloria Laib, Gompers Junior High; Patricia Marren, Isaac Singleton Elementary; Sue Martin, Thomas Jefferson Elementary; Theresa Matejcak, Gompers Junior High; Brenda Metz, Thomas Jefferson Elementary; Ida Louise Muraro, M.J. Cunningham Elementary; Barbara Oliver, Hufford Junior High; Mona Rendleman, Farragut Elementary; Catherine Scott, Washington Junior High; Darlene Sinovich, Hufford Junior High; Becky Smith, Hufford Junior High; Mary Jo Thompson, Marycrest Early Childhood Center; John Tolliver, Hufford Junior High; Lovell Benson, Dirksen Junior High; and William Smith, Gompers Junior High.

“These individuals have taken the time to listen, care, mentor, answer questions, and, ultimately, help provide a solid educational environment for our students to thrive,” said Joliet Public Schools District 86 Board of School Inspectors President Erick Deshaun Dorris.

“We thank and recognize the work these employees have done over the years and value the part they played in making this an outstanding school district, of which we can be proud.” Superintendent Dr. Theresa Rouse added.

A reception was held in the Victorian Ballroom at the Jacob Henry Mansion to celebrate this year’s retirees, as well as the employees who retired during the 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 school years.
