Congratulations to the following schools for being recipients of a grant from the Joliet Grade Schools Foundation for Educational Excellence.  Over $21,000 was awarded to 15 programs at our schools. 

Culbertson Elementary

To purchase multicultural books for 5th grade students/parents

 

Cunningham Elementary

Provide K-5 teachers with an online collection of e-books that give support for students who need to hear good oral reading and enrichment to those who are reading independently.

 

Dirksen Junior High

To purchase journals, scholastic poetry, gel pens, chalk, bongo set, etc. for language arts students’ “Making Poetry Come Alive” project.

 

Eisenhower Academy

To provide a variety of resources (i.e. E-fieldtrips, slavery series, artifacts) to enhance the study of Colonial America for Fifth graders.

 

Gompers Junior High

To provide seven sets of books for the school’s Accelerated Reader Program.

 

Hufford Junior High

Students will produce a hardcover book of a story they will write a myth on how early civilization told stories about the unknown and share with other students and schools.
