Strategic
planning involves the envisioning of a path for the organization to reach
its greatest potential. The plan is a living document that is being
followed even as it is developing. The process itself allows the exchange
of ideas at the leadership level which promotes active involvement toward
accomplishing the outlined strategies and also provides opportunities to
adjust direction when needed.
The
Board of School Inspectors, Central Office Administrators and The District
Community Council worked through the strategic planning process during the
1997-98 school year to develop a five-year strategic plan. In January of
1998 our first year of the plan was introduced to the schools and
community.
The
strategic planning process has promoted leadership and positive working
relationships with employees, parents and the community as well. This
process has helped define major areas which are designed to move Joliet
Public Schools positively into the 21st century. It is
anticipated that strategic planning will be a key administrative function in
the new millennium.
